Meet Joakim Gomes

Joakim Gomes is the co-founder and Food Curator of Divine Creations Catering, bringing over 25 years of international culinary experience and a passion for crafting meaningful, memorable food experiences. Joakim’s career has been shaped by prolificity, precision and a lifelong love for sharing exceptional cuisine with others. Before fully dedicating himself to Divine Creations Catering, Joakim worked as a Food & Beverage Executive Chef with Marriott Hotels, where he helped rebuild culinary operations post-COVID—revitalizing kitchen teams, updating service models and restoring business growth. He is also a certified Rational Chef, specializing in modern kitchen technologies. Joakim has trained chefs across Canada on operating Rational oven’s efficiently, writing custom menu codes, and using technology to enhance speed, consistency, and labor management in busy kitchens. His culinary journey began at a young age, inspired by his father—a chef himself. Joakim pursued his passion through a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Advanced Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from Robert Gordon University and a Diploma in Hospitality Management from the American Hotel & Motel Association. His early career includes numerous pre-opening roles in the Middle East, India and North America working alongside internationally recognized and Michelin-starred chefs.
After moving to Canada, Joakim gained recognition with the Radisson Hotel as an Executive Sous Chef, where he quickly established a reputation for leadership and culinary creativity. He later served as the Executive Chef at Fort Edmonton Park, overseeing Hotel Selkirk and managing culinary operations for large-scale events serving up to 5,000 guests in a day. He played a vital role in developing menus, rebuilding teams, and commissioning the 10,000 sq. ft. Blatchford Hangar central kitchen, a key venue under Explore Edmonton. Now, as the Food Curator at Divine Creations Catering, Joakim leads the culinary vision behind every event, blending global influences with local ingredients to craft menus that are both elegant and inspiring. In partnership with co-founder Rameez, whose business and operational leadership complements Joakim’s culinary strengths, the duo has built a brand known for innovation, authenticity, and excellence. For Joakim, curating food isn’t just about flavor—it’s about telling stories, celebrating moments, and creating unforgettable experiences for every guest.
